King Charles III officially stripped his younger brother, Prince Andrew, of his royal privileges and ordered his departure from the Royal Lodge in Windsor, the Buckingham Palace announced on Oct. 30.
The stripping declared 65-year-old Prince Andrew to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and instructed him to move out of Windsor Palace and to the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, formally processing the removal of his royal privileges and residence.
"His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles, and Honors of Prince Andrew," the Palace said.
This was after his linked involvement in a sexual assault scandal involving the late American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The accusations grew even after the publication of Virginia Giuffre's memoir, revealing the detailed allegation that she ‘was trafficked to have sex with the Prince’ thrice, including two incidents when she was 17.
Aside from Epstein and Giuffre, the Prince was also allegedly associated with his girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, and US film producer Harvey Weinstein.
Though the Prince denied these accusations, the Royal Palace and the government consulted on his case, clearly supporting the decision to remove titles and privileges.
The public, on the other hand, burst out in anger against the Prince for the scandalous behaviors.
Meanwhile, the affected ex-wife Sarah Ferguson moved out of the Royal Lodge for a separate living arrangement, with their two daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, retaining their royal titles.
